Yachtsmen Seize Victory in a One-Hitter Over South Portland

The Falmouth Yachtsmen took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against So. Portland, securing a 4-2 victory on Tuesday. Falmouth (19-0) will face defending state champion Bangor on Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph’s for the state title.

Chris Camelio went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for Yachtsmen. He singled in the second, third, and sixth innings.

So. Portland had no answer for Cam Guarino, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Guarino gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his seven innings of work. Guarino (10-0) retired the last 13 batters he faced. Griffin Kelley (7-2) allowed six hits and only one earned run for South Portland.

The Yachtsmen jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Yachtsmen's threat began with a double by Connor Aube. A single by Tyler Gee then moved Aube from second to third.The game's last lead went to Yachtsmen thanks to a third inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on an error and two singles.
